Deepen your understanding of Iyengar Yoga with Adam Vitolo

The teaching of Iyengar yoga is a method that is steeped in the teacher’s personal practice, their connection to his or her body, and their ability to teach from their own experience.  A student can tell if the teacher is just barking the orders they have heard, or teaching with a conviction from actually having been in that pose and felt what it is to work, struggle, and discover.

The best teacher is the best student, but learning itself is a skill that needs to be uncovered and honed through practice and time.  This weekend’s work will help plant the seeds of that practice so that you can begin to explore who you are and find your own voice as a teacher.

ASANA AND PRANAYAMA: The entire weekend will be steeped in these two limbs of the practice.  Adam will teach a series of full Iyengar yoga classes throughout the weekend to give special insight into the basic, intermediate, and restorative poses.

THE ART OF DEMONSTRATION: Physical demonstration is an invaluable teaching tool.  To be effective, the teacher must reach the student in many different ways.  Hone your skill of showing action and movement through your own body.

WORKING WITH PROPS: Props make poses accessible for students that are having difficulty, and amazing learning tools for students that are searching for alternative ways of practicing poses they already know to create even deeper understanding.  You will learn the various applications of props and experience how they help us and bring us to a clearer understanding.

LEARNING FROM YOUR BODY: With the presence and supervision of Adam, we will take time for our own practice, so that you can develop your own internal dialogue and figure where you are in your practice, and how to proceed with your own poses.
